Went down to the Books Etc in the O2 centre at lunchtime to pick up a Spanish course (book & CDs) for Kate. There's quite a good range of titles in the shop about major languages such as French, German, Spanish etc, but also a few interesting ones. Swahili anyone?

The Spanish is coming along well, although I've been trying a few exercises away from the textbook that I'm using, such as writing a letter to a friend, which take ages to complete. Many of the rules in Spanish are quite sensible, though it does take a while to get familiar with the grammar.

An interesting feature is the way that subject pronouns (I, we, you, they, she, he, it) are quite often dropped from sentences, as the construction for the verb lets you know who you are talking about.
For example, to say "We are here" in Spanish, the translation would be "Nosotros estamos aqui", but you would typically only say "Estamos aqui" ("Are here"), as the end of the verb estamos lets you know that it you are talking about a number of people, including the speaker.
If you were to say "They are here", that would be "Estan aqui".

Well, enough for today's lesson.

Just been down to the O2 center to grab a sandwich for lunch, and everytime I pass the tank with the puffer fish in, I can't help but stop and see what he/she's up too.

I don't think I've seen a fish with more personality.
Holy moly! (or words to that effect).

When I put the ad for my Austin Cambridge A60 up on ebay the other day, I didn't really expect to get any interest.

I mean, you use ebay to sell unwanted christmas presents and the like, kitchen blenders, record players, old barbeque tools etc, but to sell a car (and a 36 year old one at that) - that's something else. Well, I haven't actually sold it yet, but I have the phone number of someone who saw the ad on-line and wants me to call him, so that's promising.

Welcome to the modern age.

After umming and ahhhing for a while, I decided that it'd be worthwhile
upgrading to Blogger Pro, largely
because of two features:

1. The ability to update my weblog by sending email messages

2. The ability to automatically send posts to a mailing list

Both of these will hopefully come in quite handy while travelling.
Well, managed to get a few things sorted out, including archiving, comments, and upgrading to Blogger Pro. Just have to wait for the Blogger servers to put these fully into effect...
At last I'm getting round to one of those things I've had on my "when I get a chance" list for a long time, namely get the archives working on this blog page.

Also, gotta do something about those comments... that's it, got it all sorted I think.

Noticed on the If All Else Fails.......Blame It O.... blog:

"I'm A Gay, Liberal, Vegetarian, and I Want Your Gun"

I think that got my attention quite nicely indeed.
This is a simple message to remind myself of a couple of blogs that I should check out:

1. If All Else Fails.......Blame It O...
2. Daisy Duke
3. Ph8
4. not.so.soft

Wow. You can sell anything on eBay. Just placed an ad for my Austin Cambridge A60, and it'll be interesting to see if I get any interest. I did manage to sell a small piece of old consumer electronics via ebay earlier this week (a Palm Vx cradle for an organiser that was stolen) and got a decent amount of money for it, but a car is something else entirely.

Mmm - now what else have we got round here that's not nailed down...
